Organization of Nurse Leaders Political Action Committee (ONL NJ PAC)

The ONL NJ PAC was established in June 2015, to provide campaign contributions to candidates who support the interests of nursing and quality healthcare and support the legislative priorities and mission of the ONL NJ PAC.

 Continuing Political Committee (CPC) FAQs

What is a CPC? Continuing Political Committee (CPC) – is a voluntary, nonprofit unincorporated association without affiliation to any political party. It is made up of a group of two or more persons acting jointly, or any corporation, partnership, or any other incorporated or unincorporated association, including a political club, political action committee, civic association or other organization, which in any calendar year contributes or expects to contribute funds to aid or promote the candidacy of an individual, or the candidacies of individuals, for elective public office, or the passage or defeat of a public question or public questions, and which may be expected to make contributions toward such aid or promotion or passage or defeat during a subsequent election, provided that the group, corporation, partnership, association or other organization has been determined by the commission to be a continuing political committee in accordance with N.J.S.A. 19:44A-8(b). Frequently referred to as political action committee (PAC) or special interest group.

Why support the ONL NJ Continuing Political Committee?

It is essential to become involved in the political process if we are to positively influence policies affecting New Jersey’s nursing industry and healthcare policies.

What is the goal of ONL NJ’s Continuing Political Committee?

The purpose of the ONL NJ PAC is to protect and promote the safety and quality of patient care in New Jersey through political action. Contributions may be received and expended by the ONL NJ PAC for the following purposes:

1. For the support of excellent nursing practice to protect and promote the safety and quality of patient care in New Jersey.

2. Influencing or attempting to influence, through direct financial contributions, the nomination or election of individuals for public office at the State level who are in general agreement with the objectives of the ONL NJ –PAC.

3. Influencing legislation at the state level.

How will resources be spent?

Funds raised by ONL NJ’s Continuing Political Committee will be used to contribute to the election campaigns in the state of New Jersey of candidates who support the interests of nursing and quality healthcare and support the legislative priorities of the ONL NJ PAC.

What are the contribution limits for CPC’s?

CPC’s can accept a maximum contribution of $7,200 from an individual, corporation, or organization. The maximum contribution a CPC can make to a candidate or organization is $7,200. There is no minimum contribution amount.
